Our Ndoro studs are based on the ancient Ndoro’s that were commonly used for trade during the height of the Great Zimbabwe Empire. The Ndoro’s were initially introduced by the Portuguese and were made either of conus shell or porcelain. The people of Great Zimbabwe adopted these into their culture. The number of Ndoro your wife wore indicated not only your wealth but also your status in the community.
Our stylized version of the Ndoro’s are made in sterling silver and are 10 mm in diameter.
We lovingly wrap each ring in hessian and package it in our ilala palm baskets.
